When choosing pipes and fittings, the importance of WRAS Product Approval is clear.
After all, the purpose of WRAS is to “promote and to facilitate compliance with the UK’s Water Supply (Water Fittings) Regulations and Scottish Water Byelaws”. By using WRAS Product Approval pipes and fittings you know you have done all you can to ensure compliance.
That’s reassuring isn’t it?
But did you know there are 2 types of WRAS approval?
And that one of them leaves you well short of demonstrating compliance with the Regulations?
Scary as it may seem, that is the state of affairs we have at the moment.
In an article published this month in the online version of H&V News (hvnplus.co.uk), Arthur Reader, of Charles Technical Services, gets to the heart of the matter.
He explains the importance of WRAS Product Approval and the pitfalls awaiting the unwary.
He gives the example that only one of the PP-R systems available in the UK has WRAS Product Approval. And yet they all claim to have WRAS approval!
He ends his article “You have been warned!”. Indeed.
